Bob Elliott of the Giants is tossed from the Cardinal game for protesting a strike two call and his replacement, Bobby Hofman, is also thrown out for arguing the third strike of the same at-bat.

On August 23, 1952  — Bob Elliott, after protesting a strike two call and kicking dirt on arbitrator Augie Donatelli during his plate appearance, is ejected from the Sportsman’s Park contest. The Giants third baseman is replaced in the batter’s box by Bobby Hofman, who will also be thrown out of the game in the same at-bat when he vehemently disputes a called third strike.
