Neill SheridanĀ hits one of the longestĀ home runsĀ ever measured
In the second game of aĀ Pacific Coast LeagueĀ doubleheader atĀ Edmonds FieldĀ inĀ Sacramento, CAĀ Neill SheridanĀ hits one of the longestĀ home runsĀ ever measured. TheĀ line driveĀ shot by theĀ Sacramento SolonsĀ hitter disappears into the night behind the left-field fence and brings little immediate notice. The next day, however, a spectator will show up claiming that the ball landed on the back seat of his car, breaking the back window, while the car was parked on a residential street behind the stadiumās parking lot. A surveying firm will officially measure the blast at 613.80 feet, fromĀ home plateĀ to the parking spot. However, as there was no witness to the ballās touching down, a doubt will remain as to whether the automobile was really parked where its owner said it was, and whether it did in fact have its back window shattered by the mighty blast.
