On February 20 , 1959 — 1959 – Bill Gullickson is born in Marshall, MN. He had a good rookie season in 1980 (10-5, 3.00 ERA), finishing runner-up (to Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Steve Howe) for the NL Rookie of the Year Award. Gullickson also set a rookie record for most strikeouts (18) in a game, broken in 1998 by Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood (20 strikeouts). Gullickson led the AL with 20 wins in 1991, finishing 8th in the AL Cy Young Award voting.

In his 14-year career (1979-1987, 1990-94), Bill had 162 wins, 1,279 strikeouts, & 3.93 ERA.
