Clemente forgot the bad back long enough to drive a Gary Gentry pitch off the wall in deepest center, three feet short of going out.” His 410-footer is followed by Willie Stargell’s single to right, scoring Clemente with the Bucs’ other run. Although issuing nine free passes, providing several anxious moments in the process, Pittsburgh will make its two-run margin stand up, limiting the Mets to one run and five hits, although it will take five Pirate pitchers to get it done.
