Alex Johnson becomes the first Angel to win a batting title when he edges Red Sox outfielder Carl Yastrzemski on the last day of the season. The California outfielder captures the crown by beating out a high chopper to raise his average to .3289 in the fifth inning, finishing a minuscule .003 higher than Yaz at .3286.
