1980 – Capping an improbable comeback, the Dodgers beat Houston for the third day in a row to force a one-game playoff for the NL West title. The Dodgers trailed Houston by three games with three games left in the season, and won each game by a single run.

On October 5, 1980 — Ron Cey belts a two-run homer off Frank LaCorte to give the Dodgers a 4-3 decision in Los Angeles.  Capping an improbable comeback, the Dodgers beat Houston for the third day in a row to force a one-game playoff for the NL West title, in Los Angeles tomorrow. The Dodgers trailed Houston by three games with three games left in the season, and won each game by a single run.
