On ,December 8 1987 – Cincinnati trades OF Dave Parker to the A’s for pitchers Jose Rijo and Tim Birtsas.
Rijo had a career record of 19-30 with the Yankees and A’s at the time of the deal, but would blossom with the Reds and be named MVP of the 1990 World Series, a series when the underdog Cincinnati Reds faced the Oakland A’s.
