On February 25, 1987 — Commissioner Peter Ueberroth bans pitcher LaMarr Hoyt from Major League Baseball for the 1987 season due to multiple drug-related incidents during the past year. The penalty will be reduced to 60 days and the San Diego Padres will be ordered to reinstate him by an arbitrator.
