On ,December 13 1988 — The Boston Red Sox trade 1B-OF Todd Benzinger, P Jeff Sellers, and a player to be named later to the Cincinnati Reds for 1B Nick Esasky and P Rob Murphy.

Esasky hits 30 homers and drives in 108 for Boston in 1989 but develops a case of vertigo and plays in just nine games in 1990 before being forced to retire.
