On December 5, 1998 — The Orioles sign free agent 1B Will Clark to a two-year $11 million dollar contract.

Clark hit over .300 playing in just 77 games In 1999, he was traded to St. Louis mid season and had a major impact for the Cardinals hitting 345 down the stretch and .412 in the NLCS.
