On July 19, 2004 — 2004 – In Pacific Coast League action at Portland’s PGE Park, Tagg Bozied hits a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Tacoma Rainiers, 8 – 5. Upon his arrival at home plate, the Beavers’ first baseman, jumping for joy, ruptures the patella tendon to his left knee and needs to be taken to Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital by ambulance. The injury will cost him a chance at a major league call-up and he will retire without having played in The Show.
