6/30/1893 – The New York Giants order for the game in Chicago had William “Shorty” Fuller hitting in the eight spot followed by George Davies. In the second, the Giants manager, Monte Ward, incorrectly told Davies to bat before Fuller. Fuller hit next and was called out for batting out of turn.

1966 – Cleveland pitchers set an American League record by fanning 19 batters in the first nine innings of a 10-inning, 6 – 2 win at Detroit.

September 17, 1966

1983 – At County Stadium, the Brewers’ Tom Candiotti makes his first major league start and pitches a complete game, beating the Red Sox, 5 – 1. Candiotti, who will not throw a knuckler until 1985, will go 4 – 0 in his first four decisions, compiling an 0.84 ERA. He’ll shut out the Angels on August 25th.
