The Giants sign LF Pat Burrell to a one-year contract. Burrell’s career was revived with the Giants over the second half of last year after a disastrous year-and-a-half as Tampa Bay’s designated hitter.

The Pirates sign P Fernando Nieve, IF Andy Marte and C Dusty Brown to minor league contracts. All three also receive invitations to spring training.
