2013 – A former Florida Marlins top prospect at third base in the 1990s, Josh Booty is back in baseball after winning a reality television show produced by the MLB Network called “The Next Knuckler”. Booty’s knuckleball wins him an invitation to spring training with the Diamondbacks. He is now 38 years old and was a star quarterback in college football after washing out of the major leagues. He will fail to earn a contract, however.

5/11/2008 – In the top of the ninth, after a double switch, the Reds batted out of order when David Ross hit in Corey Patterson’s spot. Ross flew out to right and then Mets Manager Willie Randolph told the umpires about the issue. Patterson was called out instead of Ross and Ross batted again and singled. Randolph should have taken the out and kept quiet.

With their 77th victory of the year, a 4-3 win in St. Louis, the Phillies will not have a losing season for the first time since 1932. Philadelphia’s record 16-year skid of playing under .500 will be surpassed by the Pirates in 2009, who haven’t won more than they’ve lost since 1993.
