2014 – Scott Feldman tosses a complete-game three-hitter to blank the Rangers, 2-0. The win secures a Lone Star Series victory over Arlington for the first time since 2006. Carlos Corporan and Jake Marisnick drive home runs in the seventh for the game’s only tallies. 

Trevor Hoffman, who spent parts of 16 seasons of his 18 years in the majors with San Diego, retiring as baseball’s all-time saves leader with 601, becomes the ninth person inducted into the Padres’ Hall of Fame. The closer, known for his devastating changeup, joins Buzzie Bavasi, Nate Colbert, Jerry Coleman, Tony Gwynn, Randy Jones, Ray Kroc, Dick Williams, and Dave Winfield to be enshrined by the team.

Reliever Cory Rasmus gets things going by pitching the first three innings, and a different pitcher is used for each of the last 5 innings. In the 4th, Michael Roth gets himself in a bases loaded, one out jam, but Yoslan Herrera induced Jonny Gomes to hit into an inning-ending double play and is the one who ends up with credit for the win. Ironically, for the A’s, Jeff Samardzija throws a complete game but loses, a loss that increases the Angels’ lead in the AL West to four games.
