2015 – Can a team ever have too much relief pitching? Already sporting the terrific late-game duo of Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances, the Yankees trade for Reds closer Aroldis Chapman in return for four prospects: Caleb Cotham, Rookie Davis, Eric Jagielo and Tony Renda. The Bronx Bombers make the trade even though Chapman is currently under investigation for a domestic violence incident that could result in an extensive suspension.

2015 – Daniel Murphy, hero of the 2015 NLCS, signs a three-year $37.5 million free agent deal with the Nationals.

Los Angeles finalizes the team’s plans for a likeness of Jackie Robinson to appear at Dodger Stadium. The 9-to-10 feet tall statue, to be created by former Brooklyn resident Branly Cadet, will be the first-ever sculpture dedicated at the Chavez Ravine ballpark.

2015 – The Cardinals sign P Mike Leake to a five-year deal worth $80 million.

The Seattle Mariners hire Amanda Hopkins to be an area scout, covering the southwestern United States. A graduate of Major League Baseball’s scouting development school, she becomes the first full-time female scout since the 1950s.

Tyler White is named Dominican League MVP, the first American to win since Eric Byrnes in 2001-2002. White hit .297/.421/.494 for the Estrellas Orientales, leading the league in homers, OBP, slugging, walks and runs and finishing second in RBI.

2015 – The Navegantes del Magallanes top the Tigres de Aragua, 4-3, with Hassan Peña‎ saving José Mijares’s first win of the season. It is Peña‎’s 22nd save of the year, breaking Santos Hernandez’s Venezuelan Winter League single-season record, set back in 1997-1998.

A busy off-season continues with the Rays pulling off a couple of trades involving 11 players. First, they get C Rene Rivera, 1B Jake Bauers and P Burch Smith from San Diego along with P Joe Ross and IF Trea Turner in return for OF Wil Myers, C Ryan Hanigan and Ps Gerardo Reyes and Jose Castillo, then they flip Ross and Turner to the Nationals for OF Steven Souza and P Travis Ott .
