On July 17, 1914, At Griffith Stadium, Any pennant chances the Senators have go out the window when Clyde “Deerfoot” Milan and Danny Moeller collide in the outfield chasing a Ray Chapman flyball. Milan’s jaw is broken in two places and he will miss 40 games.

Milan was in serious condition after the injury with a concussion and a broken jaw. The Senators behind Walter Johnson lose the game 3-1. Milan had finished in the top 10 for MVP voting the last three years. He also lead the league in steals with 88 & 75 in the last two seasons. He will regain his form in 1915.
