On September 6, 2005 — As part of the National Roberto Clemente Day celebration, teams will collect donations from fans in support of the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Also, in remembrance of those affected by the disaster, major league players will don helmets bearing the Red Cross logo on the right side, and the number to call to help those in need will appear on the sides of the bases.
