On April 19, 1981, at the Kingdome, Billy ball prevails as the Oakland Athletics set a modern day record for the most consecutive wins to start a season. Mike Norris goes 6+ in the A’s 6-1 win over the Mariners. Ricky Henderson goes 2-4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s.  Giving them their 11th straight victory.

Fireworks erupted in the 2nd, Lenny Randle is ejected by HP umpire Bremigan for fighting; Randle thought he had been dusted so he yelled at pitcher; catcher Newman took offense and tackled Randle; both benches cleared; Randle ejected and Norris was held down by teammate Dave who sat on him

The Opening Day winning streak will be extended to 12 next season with a 3-2 walk-off victory over California at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

The Atlanta Braves will surpass the mark a year later by opening the season with 13 consecutive wins.
