At American League Park in Washington, D.C., the White Sox establish a new American League record, winning their 19th consecutive game with a 4-1 victory over the hometown Senators. In 2002, the A’s will string together 20 straight wins to surpass the AL mark, but will fall one short of the major league mark established by the 1935 Cubs.

On August 23, 1906 — At American League Park in Washington, D.C., the Chicago White Sox establish a new American League record, winning their 19th consecutive game with a 4-1 victory over the hometown Washington Senators. Frank Isbell goes 3-4 for the White Sox, Roy Patterson gets the win to improve to 9-6.  The White Sox improve to 69-43.  The White Sox will only lose 17 more games the rest of the season and the World Series on their way to their first World Series victory over cross town rivals the Chicago Cubs.
