On May 11, 2008 — At Shea Stadium, a 13-minute delay occurs in the beginning of the ninth of the Mets’ 8-3 victory over the Reds, when David Ross bats out of order, making an out in Corey Patterson’s place in the lineup. The very confused umpires eventually make the correct call, telling Ross to bat again, now with one out, without his teammate having an opportunity to come to the plate.
