On August 15, 1907 — At the Polo Grounds, Hooks Wiltse edges the Cincinnati  Reds for a 4 – 3 New York Giants win.  Both teams struck for 2 runs in the 8th.

Christy Mathewson preserves the win with a scoreless ninth.  Matty survives an error by Shay his second of the game to retire the other 3 batters striking out 1.

Bob Ewing was the hard luck loser, Ewing drops to 13-11, which is an impressive record as the Reds have only 46 wins bs 59 losses on the season.
