On October 14, 1997 — At Turner Field, in game 6 of the NLCS, Kevin Brown tosses an 11-hit complete game beats Tom Glavine and the Atlanta Braves, 7-4. to capture the Florida Marlins’ first National League pennant. Bobby Bonilla leads the way on offense collecting three RBI  winning the National League Championship Series, 4-2. The flag, captured in only the fifth year of the team’s existence, was mainly won because of a free agent spending spree by the Marlins, but it will be short-lived.
