3B Aurelio Rodriguez was born on December 28, 1947.

He was one of the best defensive third basemen of his era (especially known for his powerful throwing arm), breaking Brooks Robinson’s 16-year stranglehold on the Gold Glove Award (for AL third basemen), winning a GG Award in 1976. He also led AL third basemen in assists, DP, & fielding percentage twice each.

In his 17-year career (1967-1983), Rodriguez had 1,570 hits, 124 HR, & .237 BA.

Aurelio passed away in 2000 at the age of 52 (from injuries sustained in a car accident).
