Barry Bonds steals his 40th base to become the second player to reach 40 homers and 40 steals in a season

On September 27, 1996 — At Coors Field in the top of the third inning after plating Bill Mueller with and RBI Single off Colorado Rockies Armando Reynoso, San Francisco Giants Barry Bonds steals secondbase, with the steal Bonds becomes the second player to steal 40 bases and hit 40 homeruns in the same season. Jose Canseco became the charter member of the 40-40 club in 1988 playing for the A’s. San Francisco tops Colorado, 9 – 3, with a 7-run 7th.

Bonds will finish the year with 42 homeruns, and set an NL record with 151 Walks in a single season, he will also finish with a 9.7 WAR which is more than 2 games above the NL MVP Ken Caminiti.
