On June 21, 1977 At Memorial Stadium, the Boston Red Sox pummel the Baltimore Orioles, Luis Tiant fires a 2-hitter and Jim Rice and George Scott bang homers. Fireworks happen in the 9th Scott who homered earlier was hit by Martinez and charged the mound. The HBP resulted in 3 insurance runs the Red Sox, as the cruise to the victory.

The Sox also sign Tommy Helms, released by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and waive Doug Griffin.
