On October 8, 1972 — After being drilled by a pitch in Game 2 of the ALCS, Bert Campaneris, 3-for-3 on the day, hurls his bat at Tiger pitcher Lerrin LaGrow, resulting with both players ejected from the game. In addition to being fined $500, the A’s shortstop is suspended for the rest of this series and five games to start next season, but will be permitted to play in the World Series.
