On July 14 , 1974 — Bob Gallagher drives in Milt May in the bottom of the 12th for a 7-6 win over the Cubs. It rains indoors! Workers forget to replace some tiles in the Astrodome roof and an evening downpour creates puddles in right and center fields while showering a few lucky outfield ticket-holders who are handed plastic trash bags for shelter.

Four Yankees pitchers combine to one-hit the Tigers, winning by a score of 8 – 2. Andy Pettitte starts and allows a two-run single to Travis Fryman in the 3rd inning, giving Detroit a 2 – 1 lead. Pettitte leaves after four frames and is succeeded by Brian Boehringer (3 innings), Mariano Rivera (1 inning), and Jeff Nelson (1 inning). Rivera receives credit for the win when New York explodes for six runs in the 9th inning.

September 26, 1997

In the nightcap of a twin bill split with New York, Chris Heisey blasts three homers and drives in half of the Reds’ runs in the team’s 10-2 interleague rout of the Bronx Bombers. The Cincinnati leadoff hitter goes deep off Brian Gordon in the first and fifth, and in the eighth frame connects off Hector Noesi in the Great American Ball Park contest.
