On July 26, 1914 —  At League Park, ony 5,000 fans came to see Boston rookie Ernie Shore stops the Naps in Cleveland, 4 – 1. Shore picks up his 3rd win enroute to a 10-5 Rookie Campaign.Shoeless Joe Jackson goes 3-4 on the day in the lossing cause.  The Red Soz will come up short finishing 2nd in their bid to win the pennant 8 and a half games behind the A’s.

Shore will win 65 games over 7 MLB seasons and he will go 3-1 helping the Red sox win the 1915 and 1916 World Series.
