Boston’s Carlton Fisk and Cincinnati’s Ed Armbrister become involved in a controversial interference non call

On October 14, 1975, At Three Rivers Stadium the Cincinnati Reds take a 2-1 lead in the World Series with a controversial 6 – 5, 10-inning victory over the Boston Red Sox. In the 10th inning, Reds pinch-hitter Ed Armbrister attempts a sacrifice bunt and bounces the ball in front of the plate. Boston catcher Carlton Fisk, in an attempt to field the ball, collides with Armbrister and throws the ball into center field while trying to force Cesar Gerónimo at second base. Gerónimo goes to third base and later scores the game winner (On a Joe Morgan Single) as Armbrister moves to second. Home plate umpire Larry Barnett rules there is no interference despite heated protests by the Red Sox.

Lost because of the 10th inning, Dwight Evans tied the game with a 2 run homerun with 1 out in the 9th by Dwight Evans off Rawley Eastwick to tie the game at 5. The Red Sox were down 5-1 after 5 and clawed their way back.
