Brooks Lawrence may be one of the best Reds you’ve never heard of.
His career started in the Negro National League, where he earned the nickname “Bull”.
Lawrence played seven years in MLB, five of those in Cincinnati. 1956 was his first year with the Reds and he complied a record of 19-10 and went to the National League All-Star game. In 4+ years in Cincinnati he pitched in 194 games with a record of 51-48.

He later worked for the Reds in scouting, minor league player development, and radio and television.

Lawrence died on April 27, 2000.
