Cal Ripken, Jr. is named the 1991 American League MVP

On November 8, 1991 —Cal Ripken, Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles is named the 1991 American League MVP, beating out Cecil Fielder of Detroit. The Gold Glove shortstop hit .323 with 34 home runs and 114 RBI.
