On June 12, 1990, Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr. plays in his 1,308th consecutive game to surpass Everett Scott for second place on the all-time list. Ripken will break Lou Gehrig’s record when he plays in his 2,131st straight game on September 6, 1995.
