Cardinals Eyeing Shock Trade: Arenado Set to Leave?

On Monday night, John Mozeliak, Cardinal President of baseball, announced his intention to trade Nolan Arenado, a 10-time Gold Glove winner. According to Mozeliak, this decision would give the Cardinals the opportunity to make improvements on the other side. This he termed a ā€œresetā€ for 2025.Ā

When asked if the Cardinals would seal the deal to trade the 33-year-old base man they worked so hard to get from the Rockies, Mozeliak said:

ā€œIt’s my intention to try. We both remain optimistic that both parties will remain happy somehow. Arenado remaining with the Cardinals is a possibility, but I’m not sure that puts us where we want to be. From a financial standpoint of trying to move our payroll – there are certainly other ways to do that, but trading Arenado would be a big help. It’s financial, but it also creates a runway for someone else.ā€

Why the Decision to Trade Arenado?

Back in 2011, when Mozeliak survived the fallout of losing one of its best, Albert Pujols, to the Angels, the executive maintained his decision to reduce payroll and focus on the young core of the team. Mozeliak had commended Nolan Gorman’s work this offseason and he seemed to be considering the lefty slugger as a possible replacement for Arenado.

Mozeliak, who has plans to retire soon, is optimistic that signing Juan Soto with the Mets for more than 15 years with a huge sum of $765 million will encourage the movement for superstars like Arenado. The Cardinal President has agreed with the reality of trading off a player for the Cards.Ā

With the possibility of Nolan Arenado leaving, this has led to a spark in the discussion about his next destination. Casino sponsors, especially in the Philippines, are closely monitoring the player’s next destination as well as the future capabilities of the Cardinals. Among these is ecasinos.ph, a platform widely recognized for providing insights into the best bonuses for Filipinos. Insiders suggest that the platform could leverage Arenado’s transfer to elevate its position in the gaming market and attract more attention to its detailed reviews and casino guides for Filipino players.

There are rumors that the popular platform ecasinos.ph, renowned for offering the, might become one of the key sponsors of Arenado’s new contract. The company is closely monitoring the situation, and insiders suggest they see the player’s potential transfer as an excellent opportunity to strengthen their brand. Securing a star of this caliber could be a significant step in promoting ecasinos.ph and its programs, including exclusive offers tailored for Filipino players.

The two obstacles preventing Arenado’s tradeoff are two things:

  • First is the no-trade clauseĀ
  • Second is the $74 million he is owed for the next three years.Ā

Desperate to win the World Series, Arenado hopes to join a team where he can seize his best chance of winning at all.Ā

Having confirmed the unlikelihood of trading Arenado before the Winter Meetings end, Mozeliak said ā€œThe no-trade clause is a complicated task, but again we’ve had open dialogue, and we understand where this may end.ā€

Oliver Marmol, Cardinals manager, has kept in touch with Arenado all through the offseason since the 33-year-old third baseman has strived to get back the power and recognition that helped him drive in 100 runs for seven consecutive seasons. Arenado has learnt from Brown on how the Cardinals plan to implement their hitting techniques in the coming year, 2025.

Final Thoughts

Nolan Arenado’s possible trade signals an important moment for the Cardinals, and indicates potential changes to their roster and future strategies. It’s only a matter of time as speculation regarding Arenado’s future continues to intensify.
