On June 22, 1903 Hall of Fame pitcher Carl Hubbell was born Hubbell in Carthage, Missouri and raised in Meeker, Oklahoma.
Nicknamed King Carl and Meal Ticket, he spent his entire career with the New York Giants and was one of the best pitchers of his era. Carl was a 9X All-Star, won 2 NL MVP Awards (1933, 1936), won 20 games 5 straight years, pitched a No-Hitter in 1929, led the NL in wins and ERA 3X each, and was a key member of the 1933 World Series champion Giants. His uniform #11 is retired by the Giants. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1947 (87% on the 3rd ballot).
In his 16-year career (1928-1943), Hubbell had a 253-154 record, 1,677 strikeouts, 36 shutouts, & 2.98 ERA.
Carl passed away in 1988 at the age of 85.
