Carlos Delgado joins the Florida Marlins

On January 25 2005 — 32-year-old free agent, Carlos Delgado who hit .269 with 32 HR’s and 99 RBI’s last season Agreed to a four-year, $52 million contract to join the Florida Marlins. The deal stops the intense bidding war between the Marlins, Mets, Orioles and the Rangers for the coveted free agent.

Delgado will hit 33 home runs and bat .301 for the Marlins and then be traded following the season to the New York Mets where he will finish his career with 473 homeruns.
