1926 – The St. Louis Browns acquire catcher Wally Schang from the New York Yankees for pitcher George Mogridge and cash. Although Schang is 36 years of age, he will hold the job as catcher for the Browns for four seasons.

1925 – In a trade of pitchers, the New York Giants send Jack Bentley and Wayland Dean to the Philadelphia Phillies for Jimmy Ring. Bentley will return to the Giants before the end of next season.
1925 – Rabbit Maranville is waived to the Brooklyn Robins from the Chicago Cubs.
The Yankees buy Tony Lazzeri from the Pacific Coast League for spring delivery. Lazzeri will hit 60 home runs with 222 RBI at Salt Lake City and earn the nickname “Poosh-em-up” from his legion of Italian admirers.
1924 – The Chicago Cubs trade pitcher Vic Aldridge and first basemen George Grantham and Al Niehaus to the Pittsburgh Pirates for 1B Charlie Grimm, SS Rabbit Maranville and P Wilbur Cooper. Grantham will hit .300 in six seasons for Pittsburgh, while Grimm will play 11 seasons with Chicago, eventually becoming player-manager. In 1925, Maranville will be named a player-manager as well. Cooper, who has averaged 20 wins a year over the past six seasons, will drop to 12-14 with the Cubs.
On January 7, 1924, the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians make a seven-player deal involving star first baseman George “Tioga” Burns. 1923 – The Yankees sell Carl Mays (5-2), who is considered a troublemaker, to the Reds for $7500. The submariner will win 20 for the Reds next season.
Giant manager John McGraw trades outfielders Casey Stengel and Bill Cunningham along with shortstop Dave Bancroft to the Braves for pitchers Joe Oeschger and Bill Southworth. Although the deal will have little impact for Boston or New York, three of the five players involved in the transaction, Stengel, Bancroft, and Southworth, will become major league managers and will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
