Charlie played 8 seasons in the Majors. between 1981 & 1989.

He played in Cincinnati in 1983 & 1984, starting 28 of the 32 games he pitched. His record in Cincinnati was 7-14 with an even 5.00 ERA.

In his career he pitched in 180 games with a 29-39 record and a 4.25 ERA.

He may probably best remembered for being the pitcher the Mets traded in order to reacquire Tom Seaver before the 1983 season. He came to Cincinnati with minor-leaguer Jason Felice and Lloyd McClendon for Seaver.

He later went on to be a gym teacher at William Blount High School in Maryville, Tennessee and has since retired.
