When Doc White is knocked out without retiring a batter in the first inning during the first game of a twin bill against Boston, the Game 2 starter Ed Walsh enters the contest without warming up and gives up five runs before blanking Boston for the rest of the contest en route to a 10-5 victory. The Meriden, CT native proceeds to win his scheduled start in the South Side Park nightcap, 3-1 and gets credit for two complete-game victories over the Americans.
