Cincinnati Reds trade Joe Nuxhall to the Kansas City Athletics

On January 26 1961 — The Cincinnati Reds send Joe Nuxhall to the Kansas City Athletics for pitchers John Tsitouris and John Briggs. Nuxhall first pitched for the Reds in 1944, when he was 15 years old.

Nuxy was traded after a 1-8 season in 1960 and would re-join the Reds during the 1962 season where he would finish out his career before becoming the beloved radio announcer for the Reds.

Tsitouris would spend six seasons as a Red after being acquired for Nuxy. During that span he would compile a record of 29-33 while Briggs would never pitch for the Reds.
