Cleveland’s Joe Carter belts three home runs at Fenway

On August 29, 1986 — Cleveland’s Joe Carter belts three home runs and singles twice as the Indians beat the Red Sox, 7 – 3, at Fenway Park.

Carters blast came off Sammy Stewart, Bob Stanley and Tom Seaver. Carter would again hit 3 homeruns in a game vs the Red Sox on May 28, 1987. He famously tabbed the citgo sign as “Ci-it-go”

Carter will hit 37 homeruns over his career, the most vs any opponent, and hit .312 at Fenway over his career. In 79 games as a visting player he knocked in 60 runs with a .954 OPS. The only other Park he had close to this type of success was Milwaukee County Stadium, where he hit .324, 21 homeruns and drove in 57 runs in 72 games.
