October 14, 1924- Dave Jolly is born in Stony Point, N. C. Dave played in the Browns, Reds, and Yankees organizations before being drafted by the Boston Braves in the 1952 Rule V draft. He played for the Braves from 1953 until October 15, 1957 when the Giants purchased his contract.
1954 was his best season when he posted an 11-6 record with 10 saves and a 2.43 ERA appearing in 47 games.
After going to the Giants, he never again pitched in the majors. He passed away from complications from a brain tumor on May 27, 1963.
