On November 28, 1958 Dave Righetti is born he was born in San Jose, California. His father, Leo, was a professional baseballplayer. His brother, Steve, is thirteen months older than Dave. Leo trained his sons to become baseball players. He will make his way to the Majors and be Nicknamed Rags, he won the 1981 AL Rookie of the Year Award, pitched a no-hitter in 1983, and was a 2X All-Star. His best season was in 1986 when he had a 2.45 ERA and a (then) single-season MLB record 46 saves, finishing 4th in the AL Cy Young Award voting. He later became a well respected pitching coach with the San Francisco Giants for 18 years (2000-2017), overseeing a pitching staff that led the Giants to 3 World Series titles (2010, 2012, 2014).
In his 16-year career (1979, 1981-1995), Dave had 1112 strikeouts, 252 saves, & 3.46 ERA in 718 games.
