On July 1, 1934 — At Cincinnati’s Crosley Field, the St Louis Cardinals beat the Cincinnati Reds, 8-6 in 18 innings. Cardinal hurler Dizzy Dean gets the win, defeating Tony Freitas in a game in which each starting pitchers throws 17 innings en route to both striking out 17 batters.
