On August 13, 1913 — Doc Crandall is rescued from the basement: John McGraw buys him back from the Cards 12 days after trading him. According to historian Merritt Clifton, Doc has a sore arm and is sent back as damaged goods. He will pitch for Brattleboro to get his arm in shape before rejoining the Giants for the stretch drive.
