On September 14, 2003 — Dropping a 7-2 decision to Kansas City at Comerica Park, the Tigers become the first team in 34 years to lose 110 games in a season. The defeat sets a dubious franchise mark for losses in a year, surpassing the 1996 Detroit squad that finished the season with a 53-109 record.
