On July 1, 1888, future Hall of Fame first baseman Ben Taylor is born in Anderson, SC. Starring most notably for the Indianapolis ABCs, Taylorā€™s ability to dig balls out of the dirt was legendary, and he frequently batted above .300 in a career that spanned from 1908-1929. In 2006, he was elected to the Hall of Fame.
