Gaylord Perry ties Walter Johnson & Cy Young strikeout mark
On August 29, 1982, at the Kingdome Gaylord Perry of the Seattle Mariners reaches the 100-strikeout mark for the 18th season in his career, striking out Lance Parrish in the second inning, tying him with Hall of Famers Walter Johnson and Cy Young for the most 100-K seasons in major league history by one pitcher.Â
Perry will come up 16 strikeouts short in 1983 of setting the mark, his last season. He will join the hall of famers in 1991.
