On September 22, 1959, the Chicago White Sox clinch their first American League pennant in 40 years. Future Hall of Famer Early Wynn picks up the win in the āGo Goā Soxā 4-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians. After the White Sox clinch the pennant, Chicagoās Mayor Richard Daley orders the city air raid sirens to blast. It is the South-sidersā first American League championship since the notorious Black Sox.
