Hank Aaron Singles in last at bat

On October 3, 1976, Hank Aaron comes to bat for the final time facing Tiger hurler Dave Roberts. The Milwaukee Brewers’ 42-year-old DH scratches out an infield single before leaving the game for a pinch-runner. Aaron drives in his 2,297th run as the sixth-place Brewers lose to the Tigers 5 – 2. Ironically, Aaron, who is in scoring position when he is removed from the game, needed one more run scored to break a tie with Babe Ruth for the most runs in baseball history. Except for Minnie Minoso’s appearance in three games with the White Sox as a 50 year-old in 1980, ‘Hammerin’ Hank’ will be the last major leaguer who played in the Negro Leagues to appear in a big league game.
